The first day of spring in Braj and the start of the forty days of Holi: Yugal Kishor Juu in yellow, and the first gulal of the season.

On Vasant Panchami, Braj puts on yellow. Thakur Ji is dressed in basanti, the first sprigs of mustard flower and the first pinch of gulal are offered, and the phaag songs begin that will be sung until Holi.

From this day the temple's evening samaj turns to the padas of spring and of Holi: forty days of colour that end on Phalgun Purnima.
